And as for Ashe LEO, Kevin Hardy chief of communications said they have digital capability but at this time still use analog in the county. And don't see them going fully digital anytime in the near future.

HP seldom uses low band any longer, most of what you hear on Low band is simulcast transmissions.

Its awful funny how the highway patrol talks on its low band radios from Salisbury to the johnny troopers all over the state. I have heard other counties say they were better off before the 800 mhz system.

If they would have stuck with the analog system his radio would most likely still worked. The digital radios work just like your cell phone and require more towers but no one wants to see a phone or radio tower on the top of a mountain where it belongs. They should seek help from Blue ridge since their radios work everywhere do to their radio system they are building.

Viper system, while it is out there, until various repeaters and antenna are installed you'll still have topography issues that you;ll have to overcome. I would think that there would be a formal relay system to get critical calls through. The ambulance boys will often call the ED on their cell phone as a second choice backup.

Or was it VIPER?
Sorry, but I'm a bit past being able to remember the name the state gave us, but they told us we would have an emergency magpnagment radio service that would reach the entire county (same was promised for multiple neblriring counties). New episode of Southern Justice shows local LEO has no radio contact in sections of the county. Who lied to us?
Why do the elected idiots keep thinking it's ok to lie to us in the mountains?
