Hello backwoods Well, you did open up a hornets nest didn't you. It's o.k.. How would you know.
My name is Mental. My friends call me a clueless nitwit coward curvy chic so you can call me mental until we get to know each other. Thinking about Ashe County? It is a beautiful place to live. Most of the people are nice and very down to earth. Our government is made up of white men so just like the rest of the country's government it's somewhat favorable towards white men. Imagine that. We have some great mountains in Ashe if hiking is your thing. I hike a lot with my dogs. They are named Toto 1, Toto 2, Toto 3, Toto 4, Toto 5 and Toto 6. Fishing too but don't tell that to that fins fish because he gets all depressed when you talk about FISH KILLS FISH KILLS FISH KILLS!!! He used to be my FoF but now he is just a BBW
Good luck on your venture to Ashe County Oh one more question. You are white aren't you?

Once again Pinocchio goes on his fallacy tour, there are plenty of restaurants in Johnson City and what's more they're quite diverse, in fact there are more in Johnson City than the whole of Ashe County. I'm assuming you're an intelligent person Backwoods so you've probably figured out by now that Pinocchio aka Fin is a Twerp Extraordinaire.

Yeah, TN is great. As long as you don't want any restaurants, decent grocery stores, or friendly locals.

I think I would look toward Doe Valley over in Johnson County. Land is by far cheaper and lays a lot better than Ashe. especially what you will find toward the TN line in Creston. Better roads, weather and Watauga Lake Elizabethton and Johnson City are just down the road. Of course you have the DoC in the neighborhood but anyone who escapes isn't going to stick around the area.

Thanks all. Looks like we'll focus on Creston/Pond Mountain area towards the TN line.
In regards to aFicIoNadoS I'm just going off the Ashe County wikipedia page. It has the townships on a map in the "Communities" subsection.m

Creston and Pond mountain are the most remote places in the county and the coldest temps. However its only a skip to Mountain City for shopping.
Note from GoNC: a portion of this post was removed for trolling.

But my advise would be to avoid Ashe County like the plague unless you want tourists everywhere you look. Land here is overpriced especially if you are thinking about actually living. Personally I look at Tennessee or Arkansas.

If you want temote and beautiful go up toward the Tennessee line. Avoid any area near Fleetwood, Todd, and the southern end of the county. Its all developments and outsiders now. People are much nicer toward Tennessee and mind their own business. Only pitfall is they get worse weather up that way. Creston is especially nice.

Howdy,
I'm curious what y'all would say the answers are for the following questions:
1. What are the most remote areas of Ashe County? Grassy Creek, Creston, Hurricane, Pond Mountain, Horse Creek, Todd Etc
2. What area of Ashe County has the worst weather? Snow/Wind/Rain/Coldest temps/ etc
My wife and I are planning to move to Ashe soon and are curious what y'alls thoughts are on these questions.
Thanks for your time
