The amount of vulgarity especially Jack is totally inappropriate for a community voice type site that kids read.
Unfortunately, no one has reported anything so I don't know what vulgarity you're talking about. The last post that was reported for vulgarity was this one, and I didn't think there was anything vulgar about it:
Before that, the last post to be reported for vulgarity was almost a year ago.

Jason, still don’t agree. Just because you’ve seen some change doesn’t mean it isn’t damaging the site.

They do nothing to help this be a voice for the Ashe community.
I disagree, because I have watched both for many, many years. I've personally watched aficionados grow from what appeared to be a rather generic troll to someone that sincerely wants to see the community improve, so while he and I may not always (or even often) see eye to eye, I at least respect him for his growth.
I will agree that both tend to allow themselves to get dragged down in to childish fights, though, which is surprising because both strike me as very intelligent people, and one would think that someone with their intelligence would be above that.
How many new people have posted only to get smacked down and insulted by these two and then they never post again.
That is real damage to the integrity of this site.
I also agree with this, which was why I commented that I wish they would act more like ambassadors to the site and encourage new posters, rather than challenge and insult them. Even timid and shy people may have great ideas and observations, so discouraging them from posting because "they can't run with the big dogs" (re: Joseph T.) is counter-productive.

What commissioner posting is he talking about? Unfortunately, I don't remember the name, only the situation. I'm almost positive that it was a woman, though, if that helps any.
If I recall correctly, this was the one that you two kept referring to as "gray bush" and "silver bush".

You are contradicting yourself. You have applied censorship to Fins and myself something new not seen before and I suspect others on GW. It apparently started when I asked you about a word that was flagging my posts. Now it has progressed to words not posting example is the post at 4:34pm on this thread. Three words are missing. It makes the post look like I am drunk when I am actually sober. Obviously this is coming from the thread on Gw a few weeks ago where a few took the opportunity to try sway you to their point of view. Fins and I must be the test subjects. No, I said that there are no new filters on your account, but this doesn't mean that you're immune to general filters that would apply to everyone.
We did have a recent discussion on GoWilkes, asking why there were so many lurkers; specifically, 32,378 people on November 30 that read but didn't post. You can review the discussion here:
Several people that were old users that turned in to lurkers replied, and the most common reason given was because of the negative comments, insults, and attacks. So in response, I began automatically removing words and phrases that are exclusively intended as insults and attacks. This filter applies to all accounts, though, not just you.
After doing this, I saw a progressive increase in usernames that post by about 30% (I don't remember the exact percentage, so that number is from memory).
So if you're seeing words or phrases removed from your post, then it's because those words or phrases are deemed to be nothing but insults, and should have been removed for trolling, anyway.
The alternative would be to flag posts with those words or phrases to be reviewed manually, but there's simply not enough time in the day for me to review all of them quickly enough to be relevant.

I take offense to the accusation that I’ve tried to harm this site. We’ve had that conversation before. I made it clear there’s only one person I think should be run off of your sites, and he’s on GW. He openly attacks that site, the county, and the people, yet you let him be. Seems hypocritical.
I remember you trying to post what you believed was both Clodhopper's and proud native's real identities. Proud native stopped posting shortly after that.
I also remember you and a few others trying to convince a mentally handicapped woman that her husband was having an affair with a woman named "Denise". That was one of the few times that I've been ashamed to be a part of the GoNC corporation, and seriously considered shutting down all message boards.
I would agree that the person to whom you are referring on GoWilkes is an issue, and he has plenty of his own filters in place. But that doesn't mean that you have the right to post what you believe is his identifying information, in an obvious attempt to either lose his job or scare him in to believing that his job would be in jeopardy.
I do have a low tolerance for though. And I call people out on it. I’m not going to apologize for expecting people to try to improve their intelligence. I think they should think on their own instead of being blind sheep. There are a lot of sheep.
As I said before, I do believe that you do not intend to hurt the site, but this process that you described does exactly that.
No one here has the right to run people off except for me. Just because you believe that someone is "" or too timid doesn't give you the right to run them off. Like it or not, most people are timid at first, and will only get stronger by posting. And if they're "" then they'll only get more intelligent by discussing topics with others. But no one goes where they don't feel welcome, where they feel or where they're going to be insulted or attacked regularly.
By discouraging friendly people from posting, and only encouraging the people that fight back, you've (probably inadvertently) helped to create a forum full of people that only want to insult and attack.
As for outing someone’s identity, these trolls that complain about my methods are the ones that have tried and tried to find me and reveal my identity. I’ve not posted anyone’s information that didn’t already post it theirself, unless it wa someone who was already targeting me. I don't recall any of the people I mentioned trying to post any identifying information against you, but if they had and I knew about it then I would have filtered that, too.
I do remember someone trying to post identifying information on "jack rip her", though, which I filtered. I don't know if they were right or wrong, but either way it wouldn't be allowed.
As for the guy on GoWilkes that you mentioned, I looked through his old information and can't find where he's ever posted his own name or occupation.

Aficianados doesn’t have any authority to try to improve anyone. And until he improves his juvenile, vulgar, oppressive personality, he doesn’t need to hold anyone to some indiscriminate standard.

Maybe you should man up and learn to hold your own. Anyone who's been around any time at all know that afic. likes to test people to see how they act. Its a if you can't run with the big dogs stay on the porch type of thing. That my opinion anyway.

It's not a punishment, it's an effort to keep you from hurting the site. Now it begins again with the censorship of words only pertaining to us. This is incorrect. There aren't any new filters on your account ("jack rip her"), the only ones that exist on your account are manual filters that I created in 2014 and haven't removed.

He hates the two of us and blames us for all you whining babies that act like you are 9 y/o. He has banned Fins twice and put so many filters on me that I didnt post for 6 months. The site all but dried up.
I don't hate anyone, and to my knowledge I've never met either of you. But it is true that I've blamed both of you for trying to run off users that you don't like, and I have plenty of examples of that.
For the most part I don't think that the two of you want to hurt the site, but sometimes you do... I believe that it's inadvertent, though, or you would have been suspended. Examples include trying to post what you believe to be other users' identities, and personal attacks on people that do give their names (like the Commissioner that was posting).

It would be like the Boone sire with very little posted For the record, we've never done any marketing for GoWatauga.com, which is why I believe that it's relatively slow. The classifieds are still used more than I would have expected, though.
We did begin promoting GoAshe several years ago, but stopped having any results so we stopped. I've been working on rebuilding the site to be mobile friendly, though, and once I've launched that we will step up the marketing again.
