Everyone needs to listen to John McCain's entire speech from yesterday. It will fall on deaf ears and even he will probably ignore his our words. However, it was great to hear someone speak about the dysfunction of our federal government especially the Senate.

And most who think Barack Obama was walking on water are equally fooled. Obama did more harm than Trump has so far, George W. Bush did more harm. Trump at least has confined himself to the powers of the presidency, that is he's not legislating just because he doesn't like the fact Congress isn't doing what he wants.

Trump is a scary guy but what is even scarier is the fact that those who though he walked on water still think it.

It is like a cult

Ok I get it now. If Billy Graham is guiding him I have no use for him neither. Billy Graham has ruined lives.

If things stay as they are Trump will be reelected. Yes I know if you listen to CNN, MSNBC, FOX, MSM, etc you wouldn't think that but keep in mind they also told you he wasn't going to win last year. The simple fact is most of Trump's voters are still with him, most of them didn't really care as much about his policies as the fact he seemed to connect with them. Even if the GOP lose the House in 2018 Trump still will probably win in 2020. I mean Barack Obama won in 2012 despite heavy Democrat losses in 2010, and then I could cite other examples when Ronald Reagan was President and Bill Clinton was as well as George W. Bush.

Hey S***ShootingSheriff, I'm sure everything would be liberal in your eyes compared to to your twisted "Bring back the South and have a Civil War extreme right wing BS". Go have dinner with your buddy Billy Graham again so the puppet master can keep pulling your strings. This religious warrior crap is so stupid. If your head could get any bigger, it would be a blimp.

I hope you understand you are the worst sheriff in the history of Ashe County and you will be a laughing stock when you leave, but sure you have no worries, because Billy will get you a job in security.

What is disgrace you are.

If you listen to anything on NPR or PBS these days, and take that SH*TSLOP as fact, then you are a certified liberal airhead.

The salaries are a joke. Almost every member couldn't care less about the salary. They make more money from lobbyists in a month than their annual salary. Our elected officials votes are bought.

Believe it or not, WIT, I agree with you on campaign spending.

But then, this is interesting, too.

Revamping compensation for members of Congress needs to happen soon. However, when they get to set their own salary, I don't see that happening.

And term limits -definitely!

Until we have a viable third party, this will continue.

Human.. don't blame me, sks started the trolling.

If a candidate wasn't allowed to spend more on the campaign than the yearly salary, some of the party rhetoric would change. Spending $2 million dollars for a $200k job is crazy.

And then there is the problem that our politicians make so much more than the average American, they have lost touch with the real needs of their constituents.

That was a good political conversation, until the troll invaded. "WIF"

Heels, completely agree with you.

I believe this is the direction energy interest should take, but believe it works so well, it has remained silent for a century.

Tesla's invention brought back to life.
Personally, I believe this is where US resources and research should go and be developed. Our government has so many problems, due to money corrupting our politicians. Take that away, the money, and then we will have true leaders with true hearts, interested in the good of mankind, instead of lining their pockets and power gain..

Hopsing, nobody cares what you think about Trump. You Hillary fans need to pull up your paints and move on. Unlike sheriff Buchanan, Trump was voted in by the American people to make this country great again. In case you haven't noticed Ashe Co is trying to solve it's current problem with the sheriff.

Trump has no ideal what he doing. If he likes Russia so much he should resign and move there. Besides that's where he does his banking. Money laundering!

I know people that back at one time made lots of money on government contracts because they knew how to grease the right palms. These were small business owners at the time. It was wrong, but also progress kept moving. Party was less important than dollar. Sometimes I wonder if the bigger problem is actually the transparency and oversight that technology brought to the world.

Politics will always be ruthless, yet in the past there has been some common ground that kept the country going. Now, we can't even pass a budget.

What worries me is that you are correct. I listened to an NPR segment today about Trump's proposal on growing infrastructure and using privatized systems to do so. One being the TSA. A caller said "this was obama's idea so why would republicans go along with it now" the guest explained the idea actually had been supported by Clinton and bush before Obama. The problem is now ideas get associated with parties instead of standing on their own merit.

Heels09

Fins, unfortunately the people are more loyal to the party than the country. As a matter of fact, one could say we are now 2 countries in one. The country is so divided by party politics that neither side recognize the other side as legitimate government. That's a problem.

I feel there is a need for a true moderate 3rd party, but party money will never allow it.
