Oh, and you should know, that just not all doctorates are the same. Just because she's a Dr doesn't mean anything.

The only thing local about her is me emailing address

Good Ashe Citizen?

Try Susan Mochen is you want a local that is already a Dr.

One shouldn't have anything to do with the other, but unfortunately there are quite a few that don't like education getting in the way of their sports.

What has athletics got to do with an education?

Personally, I would go with Rachel Shepherd as our best local option. She has administrative experience in a more educationally sound school system and had enough sense to take her children with her to Watauga's better schools and athletic programs. Yet she still has strong connections to Ashe, including family that are deeply involved in our athletics, a husband that is a LEO, and a good working relationship with our existing commissioners. Plus, I believe she is currently working on her PhD. I wonder if she has applied.

Maybe it wasn't cancer, but it was medical condition. I know they were thinking about a stem cell transplant for treatment. Maybe they did go ahead and do that. It has been over 10 years ago. So I don't really recall. By the way it is Hikingmom. Has been for years. You mad or something?

What about the administrators in Watauga County that left Ashe for greener pastures, Rachel Shepherd or Gordon Prince? I'd say either one of them would know which parts of the swamp need either fixing or draining.

walking Mom, part of your story is true, the cause of death was not cancer.

Yes, Jack she did have a husband that passed away after a serious battle with cancer. He was the father of her son. Colvard was the last name.

I heard Sandra ignored her duties of her job, and spent most of her time online.

Certain names get censored because the automatic system on this site thinks the name is a vulgar word.

Has anyone ever noticed that every time Pennington's name is on this, it says **** before his name. They list everyone else's name.

Sandra Peterson was the worst director in Ashe. She worries about herself and could not get along with any of staff at Mountain View. She constantly kept a stink going on at Mountain View and look where the high school scores went when she was in charge of their curriculum. She is moving and working on her 4th marriage now and very hard to talk to those who had to experience her at Mountain View. David Blackburn had to constantly apologize for her.She is not a good choice and gone. She did continue to make teachers at the schools have Thinking Maps which has been here for 15 years but she thinks she fixed our students with what she thought she created. They have been around for many years. She hurt Yates in so many ways and not loyal to her.

I don't know about that last sentence there, but the rest is 100%.

Teach them to climb the ladder, not how to burn it down. Not everyone can lay a brick, wire a house, plumb a sink, weld a bead, repair a heat pump so for gods sake put these skills back in public schools. When Trump does the round up they will be needed.

The duty of leadership is to know more than the peons. And most of the families are incapable of making informed decisions. One of the jobs of the education system is to set goals for the ignorant little brats because they don't know anything yet

Have you seen the parent(s) of the average Ashe County Schools student? They shouldn't have been allowed to procreate. They don't know what's in the best interest of themselves let alone their feral, unplanned offspring.

PickleJuice

I would prefer leadership that doesn't assume they know what's in the best interest of everyone, but rather one that empowers students and their families to make informed decisions for themselves.

Encouraging them to set goals outside of Walmart is one thing, mandating those goals quite another.
