To Kill a Mockingbird

Public Event

Friday, Oct. 7, 2016

To Kill a Mockingbird is a story about innocence, friendship, racism and courage. Set in Alabama during the depression, Jean Louise Finch, known as Scout, tells the story of what happened in her sleepy little town when she was a child. Scouts father, Atticus, defends an innocent black man, Tom Robinson of raping a white woman. The lessons Scout, her brother Jem and their friend Dill learn from Atticus teaches them about prejudice, understanding and respect. The trial not only shows the children, but the entire town as well, what it means to be courageous.
