Not sure about the bats, etc. Read the "HOT ZONE" a few years back. The actual source of the virus had never been determined at that time even after extensive searching among insects, mammals, arachnids, etc. They weren't even sure if it could be hiding in plants. Haven't heard in all the reporting that has changed. Heard the bit about bats and bush meat but it was presented with a maybe on the report I saw.

The latest ebola patient has a dog... officials have chosen to quarantine and observer the dog instead of incineration like they did in Spain.

Very few folks talking about ebola spread by animals. In Africa, infections caused by contact with bats, or eating bush meat. Thought to be the natural source of the infection.

If ebola got established in bats, squirrels, or even birds, I shudder to think of the implications.

It has already been in the usa. Look up Reston va 1989. There was a book written. Hot zone I think.
Also ebola is airborne.

The Reston strain only infected monkeys, not humans. But you are right that ebola is airborne as long as it keeps an outer shell of some bodily fluid. Until that fluid evaporates, the ebola is alive. So a sneeze carries live ebola. However it will die on the doorknob in short order if the knob dries out. It's not nearly so robust a virus as a cold virus or flu virus but those saying it's not airborne are being very, very technical about their description. The average person considers a sneeze to be airborne, and the hemorrhagic effects of ebola will allow the virus to be expelled in a bloody sneeze or cough.

I am thinking about buying a generator and some more shotgun shells - I can use them against zombie ebola victims, marauders and black squirrels this winter. ;)

I am confused by the ebola origin. Obama says Africa is a country but I am not sure where West Africa is. Is that where the drug cartels and illegal immigrants are coming from?
What do you expect he also thinks there are 60 states in the USA

Not to be technical but he said 57 and was referring to all the states and territories which includes DC, Guam, Puerto Rico, etc - and they do get to vote.

With Ebola threatening and the enterovirus spreading we all need to bolster our immunity somehow.

I heard on ABC on Friday morning that over 80% of hospitals declaring they were prepared had nothing but gloves, masks, and in some cases, surgical gowns.

One of the interviewees was a nurse. She stated that almost no hospitals have prepared their nursing and housekeeping staffs on procedures and that there were isolation suits in very few hospitals.

According to ABC news tonight, there are only 4 hospitals that are officially prepared to handle these cases.

Do I trust the government to tell me the truth? You bet your sweet aksh I don't!
