Are they ever going to put turn lanes and a red light in at the intersection of 16/88? Across from the Corner Store? We need turn lanes for Wade Bare, Sunnyside, and 16.

Its the section they are still working on in town up to the green park inn. R-2237C section I
Taylor and Murphy started on in in Jan of 2012 and worked on it for about 13 months.

Public, that it's what I was thinking. I stayed seeing a lady in BR about that time and remember seeing some of their equipment sitting around prior to the take back man picking it up

Cut & Paste from DOT site
Maymead, Inc. of Mountain City, Tenn., took over as prime contractor after the original contractor, Taylor & Murphy, awarded the contract in December 2011, declared bankruptcy. This change, as well as winter weather delays, pushed back the contract completion date.

Wiley was the contractor for the section from the foot of the mountain to where the current project starts. They got the job when it was relet after the original contractor, English had some financial issues. Then they subbed it all back to English.

If I recall correctly, with right of way acquisition, it's around 160 million.
The original contractor on 321 gave up. Their bonding company and the state hired Maymead to supervise the completion. V&G was contracted to do the grading.

Well though they are HQ in West Virginia, they do have offices in Blowing Rock so that's not really that far away.
When are they going to start on Section C anyone know?

It's BS how they let things like waterways stand in the way of progress...

It is beside a trout stream. Also has a lot of rock outcroppings.
There were about six bidders. JRV was 40% over the lowest bid and next to the highest. 20 Million over

I was thinking this section had several streams to deal with and one being a trout stream.

Yes it does but they could have set up a plant closer or on the job just like they did with the crusher to make the stone needed.
