Dog its just another example of the troopers and their we are better than you attitude. I don't feel sorry for any of those JBTs when they cry about not making any money.

I still cant believe the school teachers are sitting back and not saying a word. They have a pay scale for each year and education level on line. I have been told by teachers they have not been getting raises each year following the scale. The state even took away the increase for a masters degree. Now why do these troopers think they are so much better than the school teachers?

Boo Hoo go cry me a F%#@ing river what makes these cops any better than anyone else that has had a problem making it. Its called not living pass your means I would love to make 45k a year and have the state provide my insurance and a work vehicle. Hey you cops if you don't like the way the state is running the troopers you are free to quit and find a better job.

My personal experience says, if The local Johnny troopers were getting the job done at home, they wouldn't give a crap about who's name is on their mail. Currently, I qualify for badges to keep at least three Johnny troopers working the job without knowing. At the same time, I have proven to be a qualified local football coach.

Allow me to take this one step further......If Johnny Trooper can't make ends meet on $45k/yr, then certainly his personal decisions have been bad ones. My guess, with his personal skills lacking, his professional skills are probably on the same level.

Better yet, why not just let the military take over their duties?

The governor should do what Regan did with the air traffic controllers, fire all of them and replace them. I would have to bet there is no shortage of newbees to take their places.

You are probably right, he probably has one or two car loans he shouldn't have and many including me have made the mistake of credit cards in the past (though I don't have any anymore and haven't for 8 years).

Given no college education, that's doing pretty d**n good. If he is having to live in his parent's house, I question other things like credit card debt and maybe car loans. Or given that the state doesn't allow a trooper to return to his home county until after he's done several years of service, could he have gotten upside down in the real estate bubble in a previous county? Either way, makes me question his own actions.

Yep Columbus County has a median income around 35,500, so if he's making 45,000 he's in the top third of the counties income earners easily.

Dog, you bring up a good point. It would seem that the Johny Troopers are over paid. Especially those that have made it to master trooper pay of $60,000. I also couldn't help but notice that the trooper the article seemed to focus on is in Columbus County. Heck, down there, at $45,000 a year, he should be able to raise a wife and two kids like a king. Trooper pay shouldn't be equal across the state. It should be adjusted for the cost of living of the county they live in.

Cows prefer new growth to eat just like all lifestock. Just cows are big enough to put their heads through most fences and eat on the other side while sheep and goats are to small in most cases.

I never realized until today that a johnny trooper makes more than a school teacher. Education level of a trooper is high school graduate and a teacher of course is a college graduate and most have masters degrees yet they make less then a trooper. I think I know how this happened.

How many barneys from Ashe and Alleghany counties are on food stamps and living with their parents? Alleghany county barneys make 25,600 and Ashe makes 32,600. How is it they can make it and the johnny trooper cant? Are they just mad they got lied to because they should be able to live in 45K a year.

So 800 have joined ranks and are suing the state because the johnny troopers think they are special. Got some news for them and their wives specifically----get off of your golden pot and get a job. The state has money problems too. This article only mentions one on food stamps and one living in a parents house. How about the rest of them?

If you are making 45,000 a year and can't figure out how to make it without government assistance the problem isn't your wages, the problem is yourself.
What I see here is a bunch of folks who thought the grass was greener on the other side of the fence, they jumped the fence and found out like most people do hey guess what the grass is the same here as it was over there.
