Newspaper accounts and a thread on this site site say she was on the New river board with Sands. I guess you will tell me next she has never been to a ASU game and sat in BREMCO's box.

Daymark's services don't come close to those provided previously. Many patients "see" their doctors via video conference - it's hard to get an accurate read on patients that aren't even in the same room. And Judy, you were on the New River Board, why didn't you have a clue that they were in financial trouble long before it was too late for the agency?

Smoky Mtn made $30M last year. Why not ask them to spend some of their profits in Ashe and fund their contract provider (Daymark) better.

As for Daymark, they are limited by funding. If you want them to have broader services then they need more funding. Instead we are wasting money on an Airport almost no one in the county uses. Daymark lost an intern this past year and had some other cutbacks due to cutbacks in funding from state and federal services, the county would be wise to give extra funding to them.

Are you referring to the hard work Judy Poe put into bankrupting New River Mental Health? She is not a qualified mental health expert. She has no expertise in mental health. She is not a CPA as she claims. She was voted out of office because the people of the county saw her for what she is. They don't want her. The only person Judy Poe has ever endeavored to help is herself and her family and she's been fleecing the county to accomplish that no matter what board she serves on.

Tom L is right. You do what you can. I know people that have taken their own life. If you have complaint then call SMC hotline. Trying to get help for mental patients is like holding back a flood. All you can do is keep working. Call daymark, call SMC crisis hot line. Keep reaching out to get help. Call Ashe memorial, they can give you help numbers to call, complain, or whatever your need. Nobody, no system is perfect. All anyone can do is keep working on the system we have.

I know for a fact that Daymark does not meet Ashe County's need for mental health crisis intervention. Suicide prevention does not exist here. Take that back to your Smokey Mountain board Judy. My family knowsxr it first hand. Mental health in Ashe County is a disaster. Toot your horn all you want to about managing a multimillion $ budget. It is meaningless. People are hurting and when they call Daymark, they get an appointment to come in for an intake 2 weeks later. Sometimes they take their own life first. So I am not impressed with your big budget nor your management of it as I am not impressed with your other public exploitation either.

Absolutely, there are changes in all care not just behavioral health. Thinking that hospitals are not aware of those changes shows your ignorance.

Just because they are working with SMC does not mean they are happy, and there are alternatives.

Joecamel. Apparently you don't have a clue about changes coming to Medicaid and how Medicaid patients will be served. There you go, saying you know hospitals are unhappy and making their own plans. Hospitals will be playing a huge part in managed care in future. SMC is already working with mission hospital in Asheville and other hospitals.

Funny thing is, I know for a fact that several hospitals are very unhappy with SMC services. To the point of developing their own behavioral health programs or looking for other hospitals that have programs to distance themselves from SMC.

You know John, maybe, just maybe, the people at SMC have a clue as to the work, time, and effort Poe has put into mental health these past years. Through. Workshop, meetings, phone calls, and help Poe has provided to the people of these 23 counties. How many people on this so called website get out and involved themselves, and put themselves out in the public, in community work, like Poe does.

SMC knew Poe was not a commissioner after 2014, but had never updated their website. They have now correctly listed her correct occupation as accountant. To imply that she served under false pretenses is a lie. She was also a commissioner when she applied to state to serve on DSS board. Again not under false pretenses. You are picking at straws and listening to this crowd on go Ashe. People who are so pathetic that they are afraid to use their real names and get people like you to do their dirty work while they sit back and laugh. SMC has a budget of over 350 to 490 million dollars and provide mental health service to 23 counties in NC. So they didn't update their website since December 2014. Maybe it is because they have other priorities such as providing care to the thousands they help each day instead of worrying about petty people picking on something like this. Maybe you should be working to improve our county, and instead of telling lies and spreading gossip under false pretense yourself.

According to their website Judy Poe was an Ashe County Commissioner and serving on the board as one. She lost her seat in Dec of 2014 and as such was serving under false pretenses and should of been removed. She does not meet any qualifications of sitting on the board based on qualifications posted on their website and according to the state listings of CPAs she's not even a CPA. The people of Ashe County spoke loudly that they did not want Judy Poe representing them and she should not be serving on unelected boards in the pretense of representing the people of this county.

Billy Kennedy from Watauga. Past president of nc association of county commissioners. Now don't you think they have a little knowledge of you is a current , past commissioner. You are the one that is clueless.
