Reach out to some of the local groups on social media. Good way to advertise and that will give you a feel if there is a market or not.
Off subject but I know someone that is selling scrap wood to the State Parks in TN because they are requiring firewood to be treated. Everything he uses goes through his kiln and they buy the scraps. All he has to do is bag it. Nice little profit for crap they are going to throw away.

The problem with selling chips is I can buy a bag for about $6 and it lasts for a year or more. They will do better selling sticks if they find some buyers. If you find one, there is a good chance you can get in with more. A lot of the smoker types associate together and share info.

Apple is one of the better woods to use for smoking. In my opinion apple does not impart any harsh taste like mesquite does. Other fruit wood is also nice to use for a milder flavored smoke. The basis fire can be developed using oak with the fruit wood added for the flavor.

I think this is in the ballpark of what you could get.
I have built my smoker 2 years ago and at the time cut 2 cherry trees and someone gave me an old apple tree so I have never purchased any.

I always split mine then season it for several months. I actually like it in smaller chucks as well...around 4 to 5 inches. In my opinion I can control the temperature more with the smaller wood chunks.
People with fireplaces might like it as well.

My boys are they cut and sell firewood to make a little money and someone suggested they sell the apple wood for smoking.
